:-(
I'm so saddened by this...I thought he was gonna be OK after reading about that tweet he made in the beginning of July, but then I read about this new week old tweet a month later... :-( Damn...I really hope he's gonna be all right, or as all right as he can be I guess, and that he still has a good while left to live, since knowing that he needs a heart transplant, he's obviously never gonna be completely OK...It sounds like he's positive, and says that he still has a long time left to live, but I don't know...I'm still very worried...Maeda-san has created a lot of amazing emotional works that have had big impacts on me, such as Kanon, Clannad, Angel Beats! and Little Busters!. He's an amazing person and artist, and I really hope the best for him. The irony of the fact that the main character in Angel Beats! died of heart failure feels pretty unpleasant to me at the moment tbh...

Visual Novels / Shiny Days gets English Limited Edition release
« on: April 23, 2015, 09:33:57 am »
http://www.jlist.com/product/JAST008?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email

From the description page: Includes:

•The full game on two dual-layer DVDs (18 GB total install).
•A download edition key sent by email, so you can start playing on the release date.
•An original mousepad with new art by Junji Goto.
•A gorgeous 48 page artbook with glossy art from the Days series games.
•Illustration card and manual.
•A large Japan-style game box.
•A collectible download card w/code (for users who don't have optical drives attached to their computers).

Sounds pretty cool. I'm glad I haven't played Summer Days before, since playing it would take a lot of the experience out of playing Shiny Days, since the latter is essentially a remake of the former with extra content. Shiny Days has gotten a better rating on VNDB (better than School Days as well, actually...), so they must have done something right.

Requests / Kud Wafter Opening Theme "one's future"
« on: February 20, 2015, 11:07:48 am »
Hey guys, I need some help. Do any of you know of a place where I can download the "Kud Wafter Opening Theme 'one's future'" single (this one: http://vgmdb.net/album/18962)? I'm grabbing all of the Little Busters and Kud Wafter soundtracks and singles out there, and after a lot of hard work I've managed to find all of them (the ones I care about anyway), but this one release is the only one I can't for the life of me seem to find. I've looked everywhere I know and can think of. BakaBT, Nyaa, Nipponsei, Tokyo Toshokan, and lots of other sites where you can download anime music, and I've looked through 10 pages of Google results...All in vain...

The anime adapatation of the visual novel "Grisaia no Kajitsu" aired on Japanese TV this Fall, with great success, and anime adaptations for the sequals "Grisaia no Meikyuu" and "Grisaia no Rakuen" have been announced for March 2015. Probably inspired by this, Sekai Project announced a while back that they would attempt to bring the 3 visual novels these anime series are based on to the West via Kickstarter, much like with Clannad. This project was successfully funded yesterday, and the Grisaia trilogy will get an official English release, including physical copies, possibly sometime at the end of this year! ^^

But that's not the best news! What's really great and interesting about this is that the overwhelming success of this endavour (currently funding is at 475255$, way above the 160000$ goal!), and of the Clannad Kickstarter project, has caught the attention of other VN companies in Japan! This is both according to Sekai Project themselves, and according to Ryuichiro Yamakawa, the president of Frontwing, which is the company behind the Grisaia games!

Sekai Project has started a wave, and this could very well finally be the push that is needed for more VN companies to take a leap of faith, and go with the risk of trying to get some of their games published in the West! This could be the change/next step we've waited for! These days we do get officially translated VN's from companies like Mangagamer and JAST (and now some from Sekai Project of course), but many of them are download-only copies rather than physical ones, and the selection is still limited to games from a relatively small selection of companies. And 90% of them are nukige. Here's hoping bright days are ahead for us overseas visual novel lovers! ^^

Visual Novels / Update from the VN Dept
« on: December 08, 2013, 06:50:54 pm »
Hi everyone.

I'd just like to make you all aware of this post: http://doki.co/2013/12/08/update-from-the-vn-dept/ . Like it says, I will no longer be continuing in my role as PR, and will thus no longer be actively monitoring topics (in the forums or otherwise) for posts and questions, and replying to them. However, Holo, Delwack, and possibly others will be checking the forums for posts from time to time. At this point, questions posted in posts on the site itself rather than the forums are likely to go unheard unless the topic is very new. From now on, if you have any VN related questions, please be sure to post them here in the forums. Be advised that Holo and the others are a lot more busy than I am, so it might take longer before you get a reply compared to before. Thank you for your understanding, and thank you for being polite towards me in all the time that I’ve been doing this. It’s been an experience. :-) My best wishes goes out to the VN Dept, and all it’s fans! You’re all a great community! (^_^)

JAST USA have announced 7 new VN titles that they will be releasing in English, including the famous game Steins;Gate! :D I think this is great news personally. Be sure to support them if you're interested in those titles guys. Personally I will be buying Steins;Gate and Shiny Days (prequal to School Days, which I'm a big fan of) when they come out. ^^ Or maybe I'll preorder them, I'm not sure. We'll see.

Just thought I'd mention that BakaBT now has this collection: http://bakabt.me/168696-  Should be of interest to Key fans. Make sure to check out the Air, Kanon and Clannad collections as well, if you haven't already. ;-)
