Tomoya thought: The fluorescent light I had picked up has a broken stabiliser. (later on that day): I find several stabilisers from old fluorescent lights in the trash heap.
The correct form of this word would be ballast, or electronic ballast. Now, ballast and stabilizer have the same meaning when referring to weight like in a window, gate or elevator, but for the intended purpose with lighting it should be just ballast/electronic ballast.
