Music / Re: What Are You Listening to Right Now?
« on: September 28, 2011, 05:08:04 am »
Listening to Star Driver OPs and EDs in the office to get rid of stress.
They're so relaxing, especially the one from Aqua Timez.

Repeat is on, shuffle is off. Ready to listen to only those four songs during the entire afternoon.

I'm a bit reluctant to share this because it seems like a personal site, but nonetheless it is a personal sharing site. The site itself is in russian, I think, so I directed the link to the archive.

This is actually for doujin stuff. The folder lchkng particularly contains peculiar things...

No problem with the repeats at all, man.

Fail date: Haruhi
I won't even show up.

Sex once: Yuki
It would be interesting and a challenge to make her make some noise.

Marry: Mikuru
Yep, no need to explain this.

To Aru Majutsu no Index
<A Certain Magical Index>

Action, Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy
To Aru Majutsu no Index -
MAL -
Torrent: 720p TV, 480p DVD (dual audio)
To Aru Majutsu no Index II -
MAL -
Torrents: 720p BD, XviD TV
XDCC: Index is on A|OtakuBot in #NEWS and Index II is still on Ginpachi-Sensei as of July 2013.

Toaru Majutsu no Index and Toaru Majutsu no Index II are set in Academy City, wherein students can enroll in schools which uses science as the center of study. Through a certain training program, the students themselves can become espers, basically humans with powers which was brought about and developed through science. Every student strives to hone and improve their esper powers, which are measured and categorized into levels, the highest of which is level 5. Our protagonist, whose power is to negate any supernatural power using his right hand, is a Level 0 Esper, which means he is not considered by the school to have any esper power at all. He gets to meet Index, the titular character, during season 1. Index brings into the series the religion/magic side, of which she has one of the greatest assets—the 103,000 forbidden magical books stored and hidden in her brain. Since the protagonist is a Level 0 esper and pretty much a borderline flunker at school, and since his right hand can negate both esper and magic powers, let's consider him a mediator between espers and magicians. It is then up to another heroine, Mikoto Misaka, to bring us deeper into the science/esper side, of which she herself is one of the most powerful. Dubbed as the Electric Princess, she is the third strongest of the seven Level 5 espers. She is also the protagonist of her own 24-episode side story, Toaru Kagaku no Railgun.

One thing I personally dislike for an anime series to have is an overpowered character. I like protagonists that has powers and yet have to use it properly for it to be useful. I like seeing potential for character improvement, and that’s exactly what Index and Index II have. ...many characters in this series just has so much potential to be cool. The series itself has a buffet of interesting aspects including the true origin of esper and magic powers, the present “science vs. religion” and the future possibility of a third faction...

Yes, the potential never stops for this anime series. However, for now, that’s all there is to it (the manga is still on-going actually, the light novels are completed, so if you want spoilers, go ahead). ...the cast of characters alone is definitely worth your time. Don’t expect too much closure (yet) and you’re definitely going to enjoy this one.

General Discussions / J-stuff DDL Source Sharing

Please tell me if this by any chance is not allowed. :-\

Torrents are pretty self-explanatory, so let's not go there. I don't know how many of you guys use DDLs, but here I go.

Please share links or at least name your sources of Japanese stuff. It can be anime, manga, visual novels or music.

As for me:

For Anime,

- as Doki recommends, most of my stuff comes from AnimeTake

- sort of "rival" of AnimeTake is AnimeFansFTW, where I also go

- in Boontan.net, you'd need to sign in (for free) but after that, you can be trigger-happy -- mostly contains on-going series though, you need to pay up for the whole selection

- AnimeTosho.org is a new site for DDLs, they upload almost all recently released anime to multiple file sharing sites

- DownloadAnime.org and Fluffy.is can also be useful, though it depends whether you like their copy or not. I don't understand the uploading pattern of these sites or if there's a pattern at all, but sometimes I do get lucky, so I check them every now and then.

For the OSTs, tenshi.ru contains many mp3 files from Nipponsei, but not all of them.

I'm a complete noob in visual novel and manga sources.

Anime / How much censorship?
« on: September 21, 2011, 07:48:39 am »
Everybody has breaking points. On that note, how much censorship can you actually take to consider a series watchable?

I remember Princess Lover with its acceptable black censors. You might not even notice if you're not into panty shots because it is naturally dark under a girl's skirt (because of the shadow, you pervs).

I also remember Rosario to Vampire with the horrible big-ass kawaii-janai bat-censorship. To others who don't know, that bat also acts as mascot to the show. However, it is not funny when he covers the entire screen.

Meanwhile, the recent R-15 has horrible white screen censorship. That's the reason I dropped it half way. I understand though, that it also depends on the amount of what they have to censor, maybe that's why Hidan no Aria and Mayo Chiki! has acceptable amount of censors.

Marry: Nakano Azusa (K-ON!!)
Same as post above, but I'm not actually a musician, so I'd like to spend my life with her because of her cheerful personality.

Fail Date: Furukawa Nagisa (Clannad)
Same as post above. Sorry, just keeping it real.

Sex Once: Misaka Shiori (Kanon)
Mostly same as post above. She seems too fragile for one-night stands, though. I would have put her in the fail-date too and had none in the sex once category, but that's breaking the rules.

Why didn't I just copy-paste? Wait... I kinda did, actually.
