Anime / Re: Your Favorite Anime Characters

I have to separate guys from girls. With guy characters it's mostly what I idolize/want to be while with girls they're mostly who I adore/want to be with.

As for guys...

Takashi Komuro of Highschool of the Dead
At first, he's portrayed like any other slacker, even sort of a loser. He's mediocre with politics and his social abilities are close to none. However, being honest and down-to-earth humble made him a character that learns and adapts to the situation quickly -- exactly what he needs to survive in a world full of zombies. I particularly liked how he admits he's not perfect and how he admits it when he has learned something new. He has emotions, but he never lets those get in his way (there is an exception when Rei was thrown off the humvee and a famous scene follows). He never loses sight of reality, easily accepts a situation as it is without going into despair and this trait helps him keep him calm and logical when everyone else is in panic mode.

Roy Mustang of Fullmetal Alchemist
Seemingly the perfect senior and a flawless commanding officer during the start of the series, Roy Mustang slowly shows his weakness, which is also his greatest asset -- his unrelenting focus to his goals, which at the time was revenge. He uses his emotions as a weapon and seemed like the more he's consumed by it, the more intelligent and devious he became. Even while consumed by his thirst for revenge when he was torturing the homunculus Envy, he's logical enough not turn against his greatest allies, The Elric Brothers and Riza Hawkeye, when they stopped him from killing Envy.

And the girls:

Saeko Busujima of Highschool of the Dead
I like confident girls.

Kuroko Shirai of Majutsu no Index/Kagaku no Railgun
I like confident, perverted girls.

Kirche Augusta Frederica von Anhalt Zerbst of Zero no Tsukaima
I like confident, perverted, busty girls.

Kanako Watanabe of Star Driver
I like confident, perverted, busty and intelligent girls.

Kanade Suzutsuki of Mayo Chiki!
I like confident, perverted, busty and intelligent girls who scheme.

Riko Mine of Hidan no Aria
I like confident, perverted, busty and intelligent girls who scheme and just go for what they want.

Mikako Satsukitane of Sora no Otoshimono
I like confident, perverted, busty and intelligent girls who scheme, go for what they want and punish the ones as perverted as them.

Anyone reading the female list who knows at least 2 of the girls would instantly know my type. So I thought I didn't have to make a paragraph for each one. I like mature women. Not old -- mature. Maturity usually has the bonus package of confidence, intelligence and reliability. Perversion, seduction, and the bust are extra bonus. Rawr.

One Night Stand: Yamamoto Misaki
She'll most probably be the one who grinds and I'll barely have to do anything. Main reason though, is because she's hot but I won't want to associate too much with a wrestler.

Fail Date: Zange-chan
Too flirty for my taste. Maybe if I was the only one, but this type of girl flirts with everybody. I have no problem if she flirts with girls, though.

Marry: Sangou Shizuku
I have a thing for dominant, confident females. Heck, even the older ones. Even more so when they're in-love. They have the confidence to reject pursuers and the desperation to chase for the one they love.

Highsc...boobs of the Dead
One by one, the superbly placed fan service just takes my breath away. The main characters' teamwork is also amazing. Excellent main protagonist, does what needs to be done in a careful manner without overthinking it.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Others say the first adaptation was better. Definitely not true. Brotherhood is definitely better. So much of the plot made more sense and the important back stories were revealed. In this "true" adaptation, the story was grander and more complicated.

Gundam 00
Awesome back stories, awesome battle scenes, awesome plot, awesome landscapes, awesome war, awesome pilots, awesome tactics, awesome girls, awesome... awesome...

Code Geass
Death Note tactics combined with mecha. Makes you have headaches at night. Then you'll dream of the MC's red eye. That's how good it is. Full of surprises too. Ones you've never even had a glimpse of in other anime. This is also one of the very few that made me tear up.

To Aru Majutsu no Index, To Aru Kagaku no Railgun
The characters and concepts are so unique, you never would have thought someone would come up with such a number of interesting aspects and put it into one fantastic story. Railgun is a spin-off of Index, but it has a lot of plot to offer. Most of my female friends prefer Railgun than Index.

Tales of the Abyss
Beautiful scenery and nicely designed characters! They're actually from a game, so it makes sense. The series is an adventure and it makes you feel like you're playing an adventure role-playing game. Also has the greatest character development I've seen, that not even Kenichi, the greatest disciple can beat. The MC came from annoying little son of a prick to a real, amazing hero.

The Tower of Druaga: The Sword of Uruk + The Aegis of Uruk
Another game adaptation... I think. It's basically a dungeon crawler adventure anime. It has a very good plot and breath-taking battle scenes. The mystery also kept me wanting more until the very last episode of Aegis.

Zero no Tsukaima
The concept behind the powers of the main characters got me hooked and nicely placed fan service left me asking for more. The steadily moving plot also kept me from getting bored.

Strike Witches 1 and 2
Air force/military combined with girls with tails and animal ears. They're basically girls with guns that fly. Good enough plot, good enough concept... err, fine, I know! I'm biased because I like aerial combat and cuties! That's also why I liked Infinite Stratos (IS), but fine, I won't include that in the list.

Sekirei
Interesting plot, interesting set of characters but lousy main character. Pfft, fine! I'm biased again because I like... oppai!! Oppai banzai!

Gurren Lagann
My drill will pierce the heavens! Who would've thought there was such an in-depth meaning to his drill? Quite a good concept.

Claymore
Damn good battle scenes! I wish they would continue the series in the future. A few years have gone by, though. There's little hope. It's still worth your time even if the story wasn't finished in the anime.

Angel Beats!
The plot is so abstract and tragic and yet it's so good. It made my heart hurt so much that I deleted it accidentally! Holy crap, give it back...

As for the recent ones...

Fractale
Way too beautiful to be just a series. I thought I was watching a movie! Has a nice mystery to it too.

Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko
Every one of the girls are wonderful in their own way. Erio, the quiet one, is retardedly cute. Ryuushi [RyuuKO!] is energetic and adorable. Maekawa stuns you with her logic, usually because it's either a very wise or a very twisted one. Meme is the main contributor of comedy, and I find her mature charm likable too. Also, if you're the type to dig deeper, actually you can, and there's a concept that the story revolves around -- hope.

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?
Another anime with a wonderful female cast. Hilarious scenes and good enough plot. No need for additional build-up, the first episode will get you addicted, I guarantee it. So watch. Now. Arguably the best series among the ones in its season.

As for the on-going ones, I think it's too early to tell if I declare them one of my favorites, but I'm watching these closely:
Nurarihyon no Mago Sennen Makyou
Ao no Exorcist
Beelzebub
Dantalian no Shoka
Mayo Chiki!
No. 6

Onii-chan no Koto... is ugly.
Yosuga no Sora is good.
KissXSis is great -- though I think some people don't consider this as wincest.
Another mild one that I liked is Ore no Imouto.

Music / Anime with the good OP singles/ED singles/OST
« on: August 24, 2011, 04:09:37 am »
I just wanted some tips because I usually categorize my anime music by the anime series they were used in. Currently, I think the best I've got are the Gundam 00, FMA: Brotherhood and Highschool of the Dead collections. I particularly like the HOTD list and I listen to it quite often. There's also the Star Driver OP and ED, and some selected Bleach OP and ED.

Here's my question: What other anime series is there that have good bunch of OP singles/ED singles/OST?

Definitely Twin Angel. Why all this rant about Blood-C? I thought it was okay. The girls are cute. The bloody plot also started moving around ep 5-6. But I guess there's no more cute girls after those episodes. That's kinda sad.
