Visual Novels / Re: Any updates regarding LB EX?
« on: February 23, 2014, 06:55:14 pm »
Also, other than that, I'll refer you to shawurai's replies about the progress on both Clannad and LB, in these two respective forum threads, both of which were posted last month (this is another thing. You guys really need to stop making several new topics in the forums asking the same thing, when it has already been asked in a different topic just a little while ago. Read the existing topics and the posts within them, instead of making a new topics and asking the same thing someone else has already asked a little while ago. There are already way too many LB progress topics, all of which are easily visible at the top of the VN subforum):

Was wondering when there would be a official update in regards to the LB EX status, ever since Rokudaime left the mix there has been little in the way of updates.

Keep up the good work.
Well, isn't needed any official answer to know this, the project is dead, more than 6 months without any update, Clannad is the same. is a shame that they have only 1/2 saya to finish, and they aren't doing a shit

Nope. You're wrong. I don't know about LB (though I assume it's the same with them), but Clannad is being worked on (I know this from visiting the VN channel on IRC), though like I said before I quit, it'll likely be at least another 2 years before it's finished at the rate it's going. But anyway, many of you guys are apparently under two misconceptions, that I'll point out for you:

1. You believe translating VN's takes months of work, and no more than a year. This is wrong. It usually takes several years. All the more so if it's a huge VN like those that Key have made.

2. You believe that no updates for a long time means a project is dead. This is not necessarily true. Sometimes VN fansub groups go for ages without saying anything about the progress, and then all of a sudden you'll see a release post out of nowhere instead of an update post. I myself have seen this happen many times with different VN's translated by different groups.

This may be due to the fact that oftentimes, there isn't much to report or say when it comes to the progress, as it would often just be how much of the text has been translated, and it's often hard to make an arbitrary percentage measurement of how much text is left to translate. Then there are other things that needs to be done that are even harder to measure.

Another reason could be that the group simply doesn't feel like it needs to provide you with constant updates all the time, and I'm inclined to agree with them if this is the case (I have a sneaking suspicion that it is). You just need to be a lot more patient, and less demanding, and get used to it, like me. I've downloaded English patches for several VN's over the years, and I'm used to the projects taking a long time to finish, and there being little in the way of news on the way. I'd say it's more the norm than not. Clannad has been in the works under more than one group, for god knows how many yeras, so at this point another few years to or fro doesn't matter to me. I'll just go and grab the patch once it's eventually done, instead of hanging around waiting and asking for updates all the time, since that would just be pointless, boring, and frustrating most of the time.

Cheers and hang in there. Good things come to those who wait. ;-)

Yeah, I took my job seriously. Looks like there aren't anyone around who are willing to spend much time answering questions and post updates these days. Tsk tsk. :P

You're welcome I guess, although I wasn't much help, and I'm only making assumptions. I don't know for sure what their reasons are. You should probably wait for a reply from one of the staff members on the VN team. I used to be one, but not anymore, since I don't have enough time. I haven't paid attention to what is going on with the project for a while now, so I don't really have a good overview of what the status of things are anymore.

Well, then they probably don't want to release a new patch until they feel they are done (i.e, no more partial patches). You'll just have to wait for the final patch to come out, or one that has all the routes fully translated at least. ┐( ̄_ ̄)┌

Lol. It's called a "partial" patch for a reason dude. There's nothing wrong with it, it's supposed to be like that. Kanata and Sasami's routes haven't been translated yet. :P

Nice figure! :D Your desk looks like it needs some cleaning though, or rather, you need to find a better place to stash those books/that manga (I assume that's what they are?). :P
Also, I bought a ton of eroge a couple of weeks back, but they haven't all arrived yet, and some are being resent because my initial copies were damaged during transport (good customer service, yey!), so I'll post pictures once I have them all. I'll include pictures of the figure I haven't posted pictures of yet as well when that time comes.

I feel a bit like I'm only posting to myself here, but...anyway, my two remaining figures arrived. I've only put up one of them yet, so pictures of the other one tomorrow or at a later point. For now, here is my Fate/Extra (Nero) Saber, of the same series, and from the same figure making company, as the Saber figure from my previous post:

I must say, when displayed together, these three make a very nice set:

My Saber 1/8 Scale PVC GIFT Figure arrived! ^^ Well actually, it arrived a while ago, but I just haven't bothered/had time to unpack it and take pictures of it until now. And yes, I switched out her "realistic" face with her anime style face, because I hate the former. Thank god it came with a separate anime-style head...Anyway, pics!:

Still no sign of my remaining two figures...I'm guessing they're running late because of the christmas rush...

My GSC 1/8 Ultimate Madoka figure arrived! :D Probably the most amazing figure I've ever seen tbh. It truly is a sight to behold! It's pretty huge as well, even for a 1/8 figure. She was a bit of a pain to assemble (especially the wings), and unboxing her was a nightmare, but who cares!? ^^ Anyway, pics (sorry for the poor quality as usual):

Oh, and I also got myself the Kara no Kyoukai Extra Chorus artbook with art by Takashi Takeuchi of Type-Moon fame:

More stuff (figures specifically) to come later, once I receive them! ^^

Nice figure! I've got 5 new figures coming in myself! :P I'll take pictures once I've received all of them. Don't know where I'm gonna put them though...I don't really think I have enough room left anywhere...

EDIT: Ok, so here's the thing: I changed my mind, and didn't want to wait for all of them, and I was going to take pictures of my new Bandai Chogokin Fate/Zero Archer figure (sparkly golden Gilgamesh, yey! : D ), but I can't for the life of me get him assembled and/or posed correctly...I wanted to have him pose with his arms crossed (with the included crossed arms parts of course), but I couldn't get them right, so I gave up and tried having him pose with Ea (his sword) instead, switching out his right hand with the appropriate hand for holding the sword, but I can't get that right either...The sword hangs too loosely, and I get the feeling that maybe he should be holding it further up the hilt? :-/ Anyway, I think I spent like 2 hours altogether, before I gave up completely, and just put him back in the box...I fail at this...I really should stick to figures with non-movable parts only...Kind of depressed now...My Kinpika (Goldy) Gil will just be lying around in his box at this rate. :'-(

Here's a bunch of pictures of what he looks like (various parts and poses) properly assembled, if anyone's interested...:

Visual Novels / Update from the VN Dept
« on: December 08, 2013, 06:50:54 pm »
Hi everyone.

I'd just like to make you all aware of this post: http://doki.co/2013/12/08/update-from-the-vn-dept/ . Like it says, I will no longer be continuing in my role as PR, and will thus no longer be actively monitoring topics (in the forums or otherwise) for posts and questions, and replying to them. However, Holo, Delwack, and possibly others will be checking the forums for posts from time to time. At this point, questions posted in posts on the site itself rather than the forums are likely to go unheard unless the topic is very new. From now on, if you have any VN related questions, please be sure to post them here in the forums. Be advised that Holo and the others are a lot more busy than I am, so it might take longer before you get a reply compared to before. Thank you for your understanding, and thank you for being polite towards me in all the time that I’ve been doing this. It’s been an experience. :-) My best wishes goes out to the VN Dept, and all it’s fans! You’re all a great community! (^_^)

Dang guys you should make some scans and post them , especially that dakimakura collection (kenjinsakura ) guys, im jealous lots of cool things in this topic :D

edit: to comply with topic rules may have to start a separate thread or something for scans, hi-res, and nudity.

From the first post on the first page of this topic:
ixlone: "Ignoring my own rule for this topic! :x"

So yeah, I don't think you need to worry too much about following the forum rules to a T in this particular topic. :P

1. Sure, but we haven't released anything yet. The last public release available is the one from Baka-Tsuki. We took over after them, building on their release, with their permission. Our internal scripts aren't in good enough shape to turn over right now. There's a lot of intermediary work still being done.
As for 2. We're having our own problems with that right now, but we're experimenting with the version used for Little Busters. You can find it at https://github.com/theappleman/lb-inst#readme
We can't really offer much in the way of support since we're trying to work it out ourselves right now.
