K-ON!

Slice of Life, Comedy
K-ON! (s1) - MAL - Download
K-ON!! (s2) - MAL - Download
K-ON! movie - MAL - Download

The show begins with four high school second-years that revive the light music club [light music => keiongaku -> keion -> K-ON]. They end up spending more club time having tea and cake than actually practicing. Their faculty adviser was also a club member in the past. They play in their school festival and have daily micro-adventures.

This is an extremely cute and funny slice of life show. There is no earth shaking plot, but nearly always something hilarious is happening. The show may be light on the actual music, but it does a great job on the importance and enrichment of life when it comes to friendship.

Usagi Drop

Slice of Life, Drama
MAL - Torrents: 720p BD (with specials), 480p (series only)

Daikichi, a thirty year old bachelor, goes to his grandfather's funeral. To his shock, he learns that granddad had a mistress and an illegimate daughter, Rin. As the extended family snipes and gripes about what should happen to Rin, Daikichi gets angry. He suddenly stomps over to her and yells "Rin! You want to live with me?" and she agrees. Daikichi begins his role as guardian (of his aunt) without a clue of what he's in for.

This is a slow paced, reality-based slice of life show, but it's SO FREAKING CUTE! You know the scene in Despicable Me when the girl yells "IT'S SO FLUFFY" as she shakes the unicorn plushie? Well, this whole show is like that. You get to watch both Daikichi and Rin grow over the course of a year/eleven episodes, and you end up grinning madly the whole time as you watch. Production IG did the visuals with a soft watercolored tone which was well suited to the content. This is a wonderful, quiet, heartwarming little show.

Now that I've read all of the manga, the 11 episodes of the anime cover volumes 1-4,

Acchi Kocchi

Comedy, Romance, Slice of Life
MyAnimeList overview - Torrents: XviD, 720p, 1080p,

Acchi Kocchi is a cute and silly little slice of life show that doesn't really go anywhere. Yet the show remains fun each episode and keeps your interest. The comedy often focuses on Tsumiki's tsundere crush on oblivious Io and the other characters' joy interfering with the not-quite-romance. Repeated elements (like Tsumiki's cat ears, nasal blood sprays) bring continuity to the jokes. However, the humor constantly evolves, remaining fresh as Mayoi and Sakaki tag-team their gags. The cuteness of Tsumiki - especially in nekomimi mode - is another strength of the show. All in all, it's a very fun and light-hearted experience.
