AVI is outdated, not many groups release anything in it anymore.
It's mainly still used by English (US) TV program rippers who still use shitty CBR encoding and make every show 349mb because they haven't moved on with the times. /grumble
If you're looking for something compatible with devices you could look for MP4 file versions. Zero-raws tend to release in MP4, would require you muxing in a script yourself though.
