Tomoyo After ME Region Locking
« on: May 14, 2014, 12:54:37 am »
Hello, I wasn't sure whether to put this in here or in the help section, so sorry if it's in the wrong area.

I bought a legit DVD disk of Tomoyo After ME and for the heck of it I wana see all the CGs and see how far I can get despite knowing no Japanese.

I installed the game, however there appears there be 2 different checks to make it so the game won't run on western PCs. I was able to get around the first lock by changing my timezone, however the second one appears to have to do with it not being a Japanese version of windows. I'll attach a picture for reference sake. (For the record my unicode settings and language are also both set to Japanese)

Now before I go booting up VMware and trying to track down a Japanese version of XP, is there any way I can get around it, maybe by spoofing the windows version somehow? If not I"ll try using a Japanese version of windows and see where that takes me. (I'm very bored as you can see)

I'm not sure what you'll need to do for this particular game but I've played several others where I had to change several settings:

Date and Time display: Set to "Japanese (japan)"
Location: Set to "Japan"
Display Language: Set to "Japanese" (should be displayed as "日本語" in you windows settings)
Timezone: Set to "(UTC+09:00) Osaka, Sapporo, Tokio"

For some games you can also try using NTLEA.

I shall speak neither hurtful nor harsh word, but shall speak respectfully, even of my enemies, for temperate words may turn aside anger.
