Cool/interesting character pics

I have a habit of collecting character and scene pics that inspire me in some way. Some of them I use as wallpapers, some as avatars, some I use as RP character pics, many of them are still sitting on my HD waiting for a use. Most of them are male, as I don't like to RP female characters, but recently I've been looking to expand, just in case.

Do you have pics that inspire you similarly? If you do, share! I'm mostly looking for original characters or not very well-known ones, though I often use anime/manga/VN characters as forum/MSN avatars.

My chosen character picture for a huge, epic and awesome RPG I'm planning. He's an ex-paladin of the dominant religion in that world, his fate now in the hands of another god, a part of whose soul now possesses him. Same artist as the second pic.

My chosen character pic for one of my old RPG's. Arrogant, handsome, and young-looking. In truth he's around 70 years old, a once-in-a-millenia genius who invented a spell of immortality. Then I suggest you read the rules. They're there for a reason. We didn't write them for lulz.

I did read the rules. Twice. I suggest you clarify them, just in case there are other idiots like me hanging around here.

Or modify the rule. "Anime" is not an art style, it means animation. Most people know what you generally mean by "anime style", but its limits are indeterminate. Unless you limit it to mean only Japanese art, which would probably disqualify one third of the art posted on these forums so far.

The point is, "only drawn pictures, no photographs" is a clearly defined rule. "Only anime-styled pictures" is an indeterminate rule. Will you disqualify screenshots from some old anime because it doesn't fit your image of what is "anime style"?

There's also the option of a separate section for art styles that don't fit your definition of "anime-styled art".

Japanese-themed art work = fine, this includes game CG pictures, anime, manga, etc.

Anything else = Not fine.

If you insist on arguing your point, I would say that, if you don't have a grasp on what anime/manga styled images are, then you probably shouldn't be posting on the image forums to begin with. No-one else has failed to grasp the rule.

However, by your suggestion, the rule will now be changed to "Japanese-themed artwork".

As for a separate section, we have no reason to make one. It's a forum for a fansub group who subtitle Japanese anime.

*Sigh.* One of the users desiring such a place isn't enough? What if I were to find another user who agrees with me? Someone else who enjoys art outside "anime-style"? I bet I can find one.

I'm not doing this to piss you off. I'm giving you a perfectly sensible suggestion, and if I'm gonna be shot down, I'd like an equally sensible reason for it.

Let me tell you something. There are very few things that annoy me as much as moderators who abuse their power and don't listen to their users. If you prove to be one, I'll quite simply leave this place, because as much as I enjoy interacting with the people here, one bad moderator-user relationship can poison the place, and I don't want to be the cause of such.

Doki is a fansub group. As such we would like our forums to stay true the japanese origins of our work.

That's a good point, I'll give you that. However, why does this apply only to art? We have a general discussion section, do we not? We can talk about pretty much everything under the sun there, it's not limited to stuff related to Japan. Why can we not have a general picture forum where we can post anything we want (save hardcore stuff, of course)? Earlier on the chatbox there was someone who wanted a "post a picture of yourself" topic. Under the current rules that's forbidden, because not only is it not Japan-related, it's also not anime-styled art, it's photography.

Don't reject my suggestion just because it doesn't fit the original concept of this forum. It's not that much trouble to add and upkeep one more section, and it'll make me (and likely a few others users) happy. Please, just give it a proper thought, and if you decide to shoot it down, do it for a good reason, one that won't make me feel like I'm not being listened to.
