I came up with this idea during my boring lecture... Basically, most of us probably download our stuff, right? From films to music to software, even operating systems.

How about we set up a forum with links to stuff like these. We could recommend stuff to each other, like keygens and stuff, things that we have tried and know are clean. As we know, there are a lot of fake stuff (infected with viruses) etc if you look on places like isohunt, etc.

Thoughts?

It sounds good to me. I could use a good freeware virus scanner for Win 7.

It's a bit risky, you don't want the wrong people to see Doki expanding its activities in the department of illegal downloading... >.< But if you're willing to take the risk, go ahead, it could be useful to many of us.

I think it's a good idea =)

I have some Windows ISOs

Windows 7 ultimate x64
Windows 7 pro x64
Windows XP pro SP3 x86

I can upload them later at school.

Well it would be exclusive to the forums, not main site. Also, we are merely linking to other places, not actually hosting them on Doki servers, so the servers should be safe.

Also ISO downloads of windows 7 are actualy legal from the microsoft site/other places, because you can legally buy a key to activate it (but we don't do this, we use a loader lol)

I don't even have to use loader, my school program gave me a MSDN AA account with microsoft ISOs and 1 key for each software and versions. =3

Meh, I can usually get my stuff elsewhere. If you want, I can share... quite a HUGE collection should the time come >_>

I would remain cautious about the items linked from your site, whether it is from forum users or otherwise.  Do I trust the users here?  Sure, but eventually this will require links to be patrolled.  Also, concerns regarding legal issues could always arise.  Though I understand you want to enhance the user experience at Doki (and you should be commended for doing so), I feel that for these and other reasons that adding this section would not be in the site's long term best interests.

Sorry guys.  I don't mean to be the bad guy here, but I think Doki's focus would be better utilized elsewhere.
I make a point of trying to improve myself each day so I'll be better prepared to take on the next.  It feels good!

I've joined many sites like these, usually nationality-oriented and tech-specific (forums for PSP wares or symbian phone apps, for example) and I say they're quite useful. The risk though, is huge. They do often say what Holo just said, "we don't actually host any of the files here" but some were closed down anyway. I don't know how, maybe they just went out of cash (but that's too improbable) but one day they just went poof.

It would be interesting though, to have a sharing-forum that is full of anime-oriented people. I've never seen one. I've been to forums where people do share anime, but it was never the main focus of the site. It was always the side dish. Hence when I ask about <insert anime other than bleach or narutardz here>, they go "wtf is that?"

Oh how I know that feeling...

Only issue I would forsee would be legal ones. That and it would be download at your own risk sorta business. lol
