The text message from Yuzuki to Haruto should say that SHE confessed to him in middle school and was rejected, but he recently confessed and she wants to try dating him. That is why he ran out to find her, it is the opposite of what Kazuma and Asuka said, which suggests that Yuzuki is hiding something, or she wouldn't have felt a need to lie.
(she is... and I don't think she EVER stopped loving Haruto, not even for a minute... but that is much later in the story...)
